Black Slate Satinato finish is a natural stone with a fine grain and homogeneous background displaying sedimentary rocks made from volcanic ash and clay, including random veins and mineral hints in subtle white tones.
Satinato (also known as leather finish) is a soft textured finish which is achieved by using brushes and grinding the fascia of each slab on a block, resulting in an aged look.
Slate was used for taking notes in pubs and inns in England, where phrases such ‘blank slate’ or ‘ clean slate’ were originated.
This classic and volcanic natural stone is ideal for use in traditional and modern spaces, bringing the beauty of natural stone to any interior or exterior area including kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, utility rooms and terraces, balconies and patio floorings.
Black Slate Satinato is quarried both in Italy and Brazil. These are the 2 main countries which take most the worldwide demand for slate destined to applications such as roofing, flooring, wall cladding and to a smaller scale, for kitchen worktops in properties that required an aged looked stone.
This stone is available in slabs of 20mm and 30mm thicknesses. Other finishes include Aged, Bush hammered, Sandblasted and Tumbled.
Tiles are available for floorings; a matt finish will provide a softer look on this hardwearing natural stone.
Use of a neutral PH cleaner such as Lithofin Power Clean, for regular maintenance will protect the surfaces and ensure that no chemical damage takes places to both the stone the surface sealant that has been applied to the stone during its installation process.
